Rebirth of a Historic Neighborhood
The primary objective of Midtown Alley Street Fest is to introduce the greater St. Louis community to the vibrant lifestyle and architectural and business “rebirth” that’s being cultivated and celebrated in our portion of the city: The New Midtown Alley. This event will showcase the thriving businesses and creative residents who, through the support of local leaders and eager patrons, are leveraging a shared excitement and appreciation for the historic neighborhood to grow Midtown Alley into a beloved destination.

We are asking you to join us as a sponsor for Midtown Alley Street Fest, and through your support we will be able to make this a “FREE” event for attendees! Eliminating an admission fee will provide thousands of people the opportunity -- and incentive -- to come to the event, enjoy all the amenities the neighborhood has to offer, and patronize the businesses that support this unique community. Your support will also help our local vendors participate in the event by offsetting some of the production and collateral costs.

Behind the Scenes
The Midtown Alley Street Fest team is working with wonderful organizations and superior St. Louis “thinkers” and “doers” to make this event a success. Their proven expertise will also help keep the event costs to a minimum. Tim Lorson, known for his incredible work in producing St. Louis’ exciting Mardi Gras events, and Sam Foxman, award winning producer behind numerous events including St Louis’ Fashion Week, have both donated their talents to ensure our first ever Midtown Alley Street Fest event is all it can be - and more! In addition, we are teaming with renowned Midtown Alley companies, TOKY Branding and Design and Touchwood, for marketing, branding, and advertising the event. We are elated to have such a powerhouse group assisting in the launch! Midtown Alley Street Fest will be held on Saturday, September 26th, 2009; tentatively from 4 to 11p.m. in the heart of Midtown Alley. We will close off Locust from Compton to Garrison Streets.

All About Midtown Alley Street Fest
The Midtown Alley is not an “average” neighborhood … and this will not be an “average” street fair. The event is being styled as part street-party / part music fest/ part art extravaganza, with an urban/industrial theme; a direct nod to the history and location of Midtown Alley. A successful local non-profit, Food Outreach, calls Midtown Alley home, and to recognize their outstanding work in our community, Food Outreach will receive a portion of the proceeds from food and beverage sales at the event. Three different bands will be taking the main stage during the fair, while six of our popular Midtown Alley restaurants will provide delicious treats and signature samples. Beer products are being provided by Schlafly. A call for artists is currently being circulated with a focus on showcasing an urban / industrial theme to their work, as part of a juried show. The Midtown Alley planning committee will pick the top 20 most appropriate artist for the event. Due to our proximity to Saint Louis University and Harris Stowe University, the U- Eatery and The Rock Fitness will be coordinating a fun Olympic-style competition for students, playing off the automotive history of our neighborhood. The Roller Girls will be on site for a performance, our local live artist, Tom Brady, will be performing, Arch Taekwondo will be doing a demonstration, and Anatomy of Style will have a runway show, showcasing some of the fall fashion available at their Midtown Alley store.

In conjunction with Midtown Alley Street Fest, Saint Louis University will be hosting their homecoming (fireworks launched from Olive/Compton Garage at 8 p.m.), and Grand Center will hosting their annual Dancing in the Streets Event. These surrounding events will ensure large crowds and an action-packed day for Midtown that will reflect the energy of Midtown Alley – an exciting place to live, play, and work!
